The Karuk Tribe is requesting proposals from qualified Cultural Practitioners to lead pre-identified cultural activities during the 2026 Culture Camp. The event will take place July 6–10, 2026, in Happy Camp, CA.
This year, Cultural Practitioners must apply for specific activities listed in this Request for Proposal (see page3: activity selection). Applicants will be selected based on demonstrated experience, cultural knowledge and ability to effectively lead the selected activity.
- Agree to implement at least 1 culturally based activity per scheduled time block.
- Be available for blocked time sets from July 6 through July 10, 2026.
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Will be responsible for the students they are assigned.
- Will be knowledgeable of the Karuk Student Code of Conduct and other general instructions given to the students before the youth camp and enforce these instructions throughout.
- Will adhere to the scheduled itinerary provided by the Karuk Education Director.
- Agree to their scheduled time blocks and responsibilities given to them for the entire duration of the Culture Camp schedule.
- Report any major and/or continued infractions to a committee member as soon as possible.
- Understand that sensitive information about a student’s abilities, relationships, or background must be kept confidential.
- Are required to have a background check completed before becoming a Cultural Practitioner at the Tribe’s expense.
- Agree to attend a training prior to the start of Culture Camp. Date will be provided among hire.
