Overview

The Karuk Tribe is seeking qualified child care providers for parents in the Orleans and Happy Camp areas. Qualified providers must meet specific health, safety, and training requirements, and be willing to provide a nurturing home environment for children.

Provider Requirements

  • Be at least 18 years of age
  • Have a negative TB test result
  • Have or be willing to obtain First Aid/CPR training
  • Submit to a criminal background check
  • Provide a healthy, safe, and nurturing environment for children in your home
  • Allow home visits to monitor and inspect for health and safety concerns

The Child Care program can cover costs to meet these requirements, and grants are available to address health and safety issues in the home.

Proposal Submission Requirements

  1. Name and contact information, including physical and mailing address.
  2. Description of relevant experience, preferred age group, and applicable trainings or certifications.
  3. Names and telephone numbers of three client references.

Additional Information

  • A background check including employment history, professional references, and criminal history will be required.
  • Indian Preference applies per the Indian Preference Act and/or TERO.
  • Contracts over $2,500 are subject to a 2% TERO fee.
  • Federal compliance (Davis-Bacon Act) may apply.
