The project will add 1,545 square feet to the existing facility, creating much-needed space to support essential community programs while improving the Center's ability to serve residents for years to come.

The expansion will include:

Five new offices, including dedicated spaces for Victim Services, Senior Nutrition, and the ROSS (Resident Opportunity and Self-Sufficiency) Program, along with two flexible-use offices to accommodate future program needs.

A new meeting space to support community gatherings, program activities, and collaborative services.

A shared copy and print work area connected to the Community Center's computer center.

Several new storage closets to improve organization and support multiple community programs.

In addition to the indoor expansion, the project will transform the Center's outdoor courtyard by adding a structured roof cover and a new concrete patio. These improvements will create a more comfortable, year-round outdoor gathering space for meals, events, and community activities.

To support the expanded facility, the project will also upgrade the Community Center's electrical service and replace the existing backup generator with a larger-capacity unit. The new generator will provide reliable emergency power for the expanded Center, ensuring continuity of services during power outages and other emergencies.

The Orleans Senior Nutrition Center plays a vital role in supporting Elders by providing nutritious meals, opportunities for social connection, and access to essential services. This expansion reflects the Karuk Tribe's ongoing commitment to strengthening community infrastructure and creating spaces that promote health, safety, cultural connection, and overall well-being.

The expanded Center will enhance quality of life by increasing access to educational opportunities, supporting self-sufficiency for residents living in KTHA housing, and helping reduce poverty and food insecurity. It will also serve as a safe, welcoming community gathering place that fosters healing, strengthens relationships, and supports resilience in a community that continues to navigate the lasting impacts of historical trauma, geographic isolation, and economic hardship.
