Summary
The Karuk Tribe is pleased to announce this year’s Summer Youth Employment Opportunities for 2026!
Youth may be hired to work one of the following Tribal Departments/Programs: Housing (KTHA), Department of NaturalResources (DNR), Summer Food Program, Tribal Employee Rights (TERO), Education, Finance, Behavioral Health,Fisheries, Health, Language, Wellness Center, TANF, Head Start and Maintenance based on availability.
Total number of positions offered in each community will be determined in the following weeks but will include the communities of:Orleans, Happy Camp, and Yreka. Positions include performing indoor or outdoor duties.
Dates of employment in Happy Camp and Yreka will be June 15 through August 10, 2026 (8 Weeks) and in Orleans will be June 22 through August 17, 2026. Application packets are available online at or by visiting any Karuk Tribal Office.
Applicants must be between the ages of 15 through 18. Preference will be given to Karuk Tribal Members andDescendants.Each position will be paid at the rate of $16.90 per hour for up to 40-hour work weeks, Monday through Friday.

Responsibilities
Standard Conduct
- Adheres to Tribe's and Program's confidentiality and personnel policies.
- Be available for local and out of the area travel as required for job related training and various activities.
- Attends all required meetings, trainings and functions.
- Be polite and maintain a priority system in accepting other job-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with Native American youth and family members in culturally diverse environments.
- Displays the ability to establish and maintain harmonious working relationships with other employees and the public.
- Demonstrates the ability to manage time well and work under stressful conditions with an even temperament.
- Demonstrated ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.

Tribal Preference Policy
In accordance with the TERO Ordinance 93-0-01, Tribal Preference will be observed in hiring.
Veteran's Preference
It is the policy of the Karuk Tribe to provide preference in hiring to qualified applicants claiming Veteran’s Preference who have been discharged from the United States Armed Forces with honorable or under honorable conditions.
