The Karuk Tribe is currently accepting applications from interested enrolled Karuk Tribal Members from the Orleans District to serve on the Karuk Tribe Election Committee; however, letters of interest will be accepted and considered from enrolled Karuk Tribal Members residing the Yreka and Happy Camp districts as well. We are currently looking to fill one (1) vacant seat that carries a four-year term.

The Karuk Tribal Election Committee was established for the purposes of:

‍1) Conducting and supervising all Tribal elections, regular or special, in accordance with the Election Ordinance;

2) Deciding election disputes;

3) Enforcing the Election Ordinance; and

4) Recommending to the Tribal Council such additional rules for the conduct of elections as may be necessary from time to time.

The Election Committee meets on average twice each month in Happy Camp at 5:30 PM. When possible, meetings shall be held on the second and fourth Tuesdays. Committee Members are expected to travel as necessary to attend meetings, trainings, and conferences that may be out of the area. Committee members are also expected to participate at an Election Day polling station.

Mileage is paid to Committee Members who must travel to Happy Camp from another community for meetings and trainings at the currently approved federal POV rate. Committee Members are compensated with a $200 stipend for their time spent attending meetings.
