The Tribe plans to apply for a $2 million ICDBG grant to help fund the construction of a new Head Start facility in Yreka, CA. A public meeting for input will be held virtually on September 15, 2023, and the draft proposal will be reviewed at the Tribal Council meeting on September 28.

Public Notice
The Karuk Tribe will submit a proposal for Indian Community Development Block Grant (ICDBG) to the US Department of Housing and Urban Development, Southwest Office of Native American Programs, on October 5th, 2023. The ICDBG can be utilized to construct public facilities, construct or renovate homes, purchase land for new housing, or conduct economic development activities.
The Karuk Tribe is applying for the maximum grant—$2,000,000.00—for construction of public facilities. This funding will be leveraged with funding from various sources to fund the construction of a Head Start facility in Yreka, CA. This project has been developed by the Tribal Council and a draft application will be presented at the Karuk Tribal Council meeting on September 28th, 2023.
A virtual meeting inviting public input is scheduled for September 15th, 2023 at noon. The public can participate by clicking on the following link:

Upon completion of the application, the components of the application will be available for review by any interested party. These components include:

- Implementation Schedule (Form HUD-4125)
- Cost Information (Form HUD-4123)
- Program and project-related thresholds
