Grant Writer
The Grant Writer is responsible for identifying, developing, and responding to funding opportunities from government agencies, foundations, and other entities. This position collaborates with Tribal Council, management, and program directors to develop proposals aligned with Tribal goals. The Grant Writer also maintains compliance and reporting for awarded grants.

Responsibilities
- Research and identify funding opportunities that align with Tribal priorities.
- Prepare, write, and submit high-quality proposals and grant applications.
- Work with program directors and staff to develop project concepts, budgets, and supporting documents.
- Ensure timely submission of applications and reports to funding agencies.
- Maintain accurate grant files, documentation, and records.
- Monitor compliance with funding agency requirements and regulations.
- Provide regular updates to the Executive Director and Tribal Council on funding activities.
- Develop and maintain relationships with funding agencies and partners.
- Assist in long-term strategic planning for grant acquisition.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated knowledge of grant writing, proposal development, and funding processes.
- Strong research, writing, and editing skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with Tribal Council, management, and staff.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines.
- Knowledge of Tribal governance and Native American communities preferred.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and related software.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Public Administration, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
- Minimum three (3) years of experience in grant writing and administration.
- Experience with federal, state, and private grant processes.
- Must possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Valid driver’s license, good driving record, and insurability by the Tribe’s insurance carrier.
- Must pass pre-employment drug and alcohol screening and a criminal background check.
