Karuk Judicial System and Programs
 
 The Karuk Tribal Court is involved with many grant funded projects related to family, juvenile, child support, custody, and domestic violence law and procedure.
 
          OVW Grants to Indian Tribal Governments Program(Pikyav Program)
 
Goal:
To assist in the reduction of the incidence of violence against Native Women, Children, Teens and Elders and provide access to culturally sensitive support and legal services.
 
         1.  Legal Assistance & Education Project(By appointment only)
 
The Self Help Users Program is designed to assist Native American self - represented litigants fill out Domestic Violence Legal  paper work, understand the legal process in child and family court and learn about other resources available for petitioners and respondents
 
2. Support Services
 
Referral to culturally sensitive relevant resources
Court accompaniment
 
3. Education and Community Outreach Services
 
4. Girls and Women's Support Groups/Talking Circles
    Community Education Events
 
Karuk Tribal Youth Wellness Program
 
Eligible Karuk Youth & Descendant Members ages  10yrs to 19yrs who meet the following criteria:
 
 
1.  Reside within the communities of Yreka, Somes Bar, Happy Camp or
      Orleans, and,
2.  Identified as being "at risk" of being in or are involved in the Juvenile
     Justice  System, or,
3.  At Risk of academic failure, suspension or expulsion (possible referral
     from SARB)
4.  Working towards graduating High School or obtaining a GED
 
Support Services
 
 
1. Referral to culturally relevant resources 
2. Limited court accompaniment
3. Girls and Women's Support Groups/Talking Cirlces
