Welcome to the Karuk Tribe People's Center Museum & Gift Shop
The Mission of the Karuk Tribe People’s Center Museum & Gift Shop: As the Museum and Cultural Center of the Karuk Tribe, the People’s Center Museum & Gift Shop is devoted to the preservation, promotion and celebration of Karuk history, language, traditions and living culture.
Opened in September 2002, the Karuk People's Center is a 5,000 square foot facility that includes an exhibition gallery, a gift shop, a Basketweaving classroom, a library, a collection's storage area and the Karuk Language Program Office.
Basket Classes are held in the Basketweaving Classroom every Sunday from 12:00 to 3:00 pm and are led by master Karuk basket weaver, Wilverna Reece. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own material for weaving.
The Karuk Tribe also hosts a Basket Weaver's Gathering every Spring. The dates and more information about the 2018 Basket Weaver's Gathering will be posted as they become available.
The People’s Center is open Monday through Saturday from 9:30 am to 5:00 pm and closed for lunch from 1:00 to 1:30 pm.
