Indian Child Welfare Committee (ICW)

It is the ICW Committees intent to protect the best interests of the child and promote the stability and security of the Karuk Tribe and its Indian families by fully exercising the Tribe's rights and responsibilities under the Indian Child Welfare Act (ICWA) of 1978 and these Policies. The Committee is tasked with reviewing the status of state ICWA cases and to monitor our eligible Karuk children. The committee also participate's in Title IV-B and IV-E Meetings, State ICWA , meetings with other governmental bodies, works closely with housing, tribal court, CASA, and assists with recruitment of prospective foster parents.
